You must possess the ability to bring fresh thinking and curiosity to clients’ work to make them think about their brand in an entirely different way, and must have a passion for pushing the boundaries of knowledge gathering and testing new mediums to reach our targets. You will need the ability to execute communications for development initiatives, inclusive of digital advertising and traditional advertising.  The position will require implementation and time management expertise for all project components. In addition, you will be responsible for building knowledge on existing and emerging communications tools and tactics, industry practices and trends, as well as becoming immersed in the clients’ business and category. 

Job Description:

As part of the creative team, you will be expected to craft and execute ideas across various campaigns and media. You must be able to develop creative for both traditional and digital advertising. You must be strategic and collaborative, with strong interpersonal skills and a passion for creating insightful, intelligent work.

The Creative Director position is considered a key position, interacting at the highest levels of the client and agency organization. As leader of the creative team, you will be responsible for managing creative staff and high-level client relationships in the creation of concepts across various campaigns and media. You must be able to develop 360º creative for traditional, digital and social media advertising. You are expected to lead by example and aid in the development of Curiosity’s creative and company culture. You must be strategic and collaborative, with strong interpersonal skills and a passion for creating insightful, intelligent work.

Strategic Functions:

  • Develop strategic concepts, alongside copywriter/internal team, that communicate the objective of the piece

Creativity:

Presentations:

  • Present work clearly to the internal team and client. This includes stating objectives outlined in the brief and reasoning as to why the concepts and visual choices being presented deliver on target.

Leadership:

  • Establish and lead relationships through project execution with clients and other project leads
  • Assess and assign resources appropriately based on skills and talent
  • Apply, explain and defend creative executions and recommendations based on established strategies
  • Multi-task and prioritize workload
  • Must give clear direction to copywriters, designers, production artists and outside vendors, and set goals to reach the desired outcome of project
  • Participate in approval of Creative Briefs, making sure all creative details are provided and scope of work is being communicated clearly for your team
  • Set example/establish expectations for your teams for following in-house processes and policies
  • Motivate others to create excellent work
  • Support an environment of teamwork and collaboration
  • Help conduct both internal and external meetings
  • Discipline staff when needed
  • Participate in the operating leadership committee meetings and discussions
  • Provide yearly performance reviews and development plans, including continual monitoring of progress and expectations, for all creative team members

Execution:

  • Responsible for delivering any direct assignment work on time, according to quality standards of Curiosity, and to the expectations of the Client and our vendor partners
  • Responsible for the management of and quality of work delivered by outside vendors (directing photographers, freelance designers, wardrobe, directors, sound design, music, photo retouching, approvals of press proofs, web applications, etc.), as well as work delegated to an internal designer or production artist, making sure work remains on target, on budget, and on schedule
  • Manage timelines to deliver work on schedule

Teamwork:

  • Work closely with Chief Creative Officer and Project Manager to manage projects through to completion
  • Oversee the hiring of outside vendors (photographers, models, programmers, directors, freelance designers, producers, etc.), communicating why a particular vendor or talent is appropriate for each specific job
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with both clients and coworkers

Requirements:

  • A four-year degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • A portfolio filled with great ideas and award-winning concepts
  • Ability to manage and contribute to numerous projects simultaneously
  • Superior visual communication skills
  • Willingness to fail or at least die trying
  • High level of curiosity
  • Be curious and passionate
